Honestly, life got so busy I forgot about this! Evidently for 15 years!! 🤷🏻♀️ A lot happened in that time! My sons are now adults, one is married with four kids! So, yes, I’m a grandma!!👵 I battled breast cancer, and decided on an early retirement.
I’ve had a lot of loss in my family. My Aunt Ginny, my father in law, my beloved step mother, a sweet and generous uncle, and my father.
My relationship with my dad was complicated. He was a LEO his whole life, and not big on showing affection. My parents had a contentious divorce when I was 9 and I moved with my mother 800 miles away back to her hometown. He paid his (measly) child support, sent birthday & Christmas cards & gifts, but I didn’t see my father from then until I got married at age 20.
From there we re-established a connection. It was tenuous until he married his third (&final) wife. She encouraged our relationship, and we did get closer as he got older.
Unfortunately, she had leukemia and after a 5 year battle, succumbed. My father passed two years later.
My father didn’t like to spend money, and as an only child, he left me comfortable financially. I resisted at first, but finally decided on an early retirement.
Life is short, and I see the physical problems our mothers face. I decided it’s time to travel, do things, and make memories before it’s too late! So in a week I leave for a month in Australia! Tune in!
